This experimental piece is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic medieval morality play, dressed in modern visual and musical attire. It evokes the tradition of 19th-century Czech folk marionette theatre and the peek-a-boo stages of "family puppet theatres."
The famous story of Johannes Faust, the ambitious magician, explores the eternal plight of humankind as it encounters the limits of its own abilities while striving to achieve its goals. Turning to the devil for help, Faust pays for this assistance with his own body and soul rather than relinquishing his ambitions or settling for his past successes.
